I picked up some extension tubes for the NEX 5N the other day and was trying them out. This is a seed pod off a weed from last spring. Not sure what it is, looks like a dandeliion on steroids. The thing is a little bigger than a baseball when it's ready to "poof."
So, I put both tubes on the 5N (26mm total) along with my Leica Elmar 135/4 @ f/8. then I propped a piece of foamboard against a foot stool and shined my mini Maglite on the board. Put the seed pod between the camera and the background and violá!
This isn't actually in the macro realm as far as magnification, but it did reduce the minimum focus distance from 1.5 meters to less than ˝ meter, which was the intent of getting the extension tubes- a way to get closer with my rangefinder lenses.
I love it when plan comes together.
